Thanks to the use of this tool, the fleet’s efficiency has significantly improved, with both fuel consumption and carbon emissions being substantially reduced. These improvements go hand-in-hand with Vredeveld Group’s future-oriented corporate strategy.

“We have very ambitious goals for the future,” says Mischa Vredeveld, the company’s CEO. “Our mission is to significantly reduce CO2 emissions, and in this regard, ContiConnect plays a key role by providing us with the tools we need to achieve it.”

The Vredeveld Group operates in four centers, employs about 200 people, and is continuing to expand its business. Its vehicle fleet consists of 125 trucks and 200 trailers and is used to transport bulk goods such as flour, potato flakes, and salt, as well as construction materials in the form of lime and silicalime bricks. The company’s internal processes have been digitised as much as possible, using IT solutions to optimise supply chains with the overall aim of minimising total cost of ownership (TCO). This is why Continental‘s tyre management system also contributes. “ContiConnect offers us several ways to save. Firstly, we have fewer breakdowns on the road, resulting in less downtime. Secondly, we save fuel. And thirdly, we reduce our CO2 emissions. Our vehicles consume between 3.5 and 4 million litres of fuel per year. Even if we can save only one, two, or three percent, we’re already talking about a lot of money.”

Vredeveld opted for the ContiConnect Live module, suitable for both fleet vehicles that are out on the road for days at a time and for trucks which return to base on a daily basis. “One of the important features of ContiConnect Live is the tracking function that allows the dispatcher at the headquarters to locate the driver if a tyre is losing pressure,” explains Bart Piceu, Continental’s Director of Digital Solutions.

Vredeveld’s fleet director, Frans Gerding, also took some time to highlight the other advantages that ContiConnect has brought to them: “When it comes to maintenance, the biggest challenge is to ensure that vehicles remain operational at all times. If a vehicle breaks down on the road, high costs are incurred.”

ContiConnect has ensured that its vehicles are always operating with the correct tyre pressure which should alone prevent many punctures, saving time and money. “The live monitoring function via tablet or smartphone has therefore become an indispensable tool for us,” says the fleet manager, emphasising the advantages of digital tyre monitoring.
