ADINE Publish Latest Tyre Import Statistics for May 2022

ADINE Tyre Import Statistics

ADINE (la Asociación Nacional de Distribuidores e Importadores de Neumáticos), the Spanish Association for Tyre Importers and Distributors has revealed its import figures for the month of May with truck and agricultural tyres continuing to see year-to-date increases.

Starting with truck tyres, ADINE have reported that May saw a 78.4% year-on-year jump compared to 2021 with 48,090 units imported. This improvement has helped the year-to-date figures register a 46.7% lead by the end of May 2022.

May 2022 saw 183.3% increase in imports from Thailand and 123.7% from Vietnam. Imports from China also saw an increase during this month of 52.9%. Looking at the overall picture for 2022, a particularly illuminating figure which reflects the monthly statistic is that imports from Thailand have surged by 142.2%.

The monthly import figures for construction, OTR and mining tyres from Asia is markedly different to what we can see in the truck segment with 10,470 units recorded representing a 29.8% drop against May last year. Of these 10,470 units, 53% arrived from India. The decrease subsides noticeably when we look at the year as a whole within the segment with just a 7% year-to-date increase in comparison with the previous year where 45% of imports came from China and a further 42% from India.

Finally, agricultural tyre imports soared in May with a 139% year-on-year increase as 30,660 units were imported. ADINE reports that 67% of agricultural tyre imports came from India and Indonesia. As for the January to May, the association has highlighted that agricultural tyre imports are 4.2% ahead on on May 2021 with 104,360 units imported.
