Commercial Vehicle Registrations in Germany Show Strong Growth in February 2024

The commercial vehicle market in Germany continued its upward trajectory in February 2024. According to the latest data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), February saw notable increases in registrations across various segments compared to the same period last year.

Total Registrations Surge Across Commercial Vehicles and Buses

In February 2024, total commercial vehicle registrations surged to 32,170 units, marking a significant 19% increase year-on-year.  Year-to-date registrations also demonstrated a solid performance, reaching 61,414 units, reflecting a commendable 14% increase compared to the same period last year.

Breaking down the numbers further, commercial vehicles up to 6 tonnes (excluding buses) witnessed substantial growth, with registrations totaling 24,531 units in February 2024. This represents an impressive 22% increase year-on-year. Year-to-date registrations in this category stood at 45,999 units, reflecting a commendable 17% growth compared to the previous year.

Similarly, commercial vehicles over 6 to 16 tonnes (excluding buses) experienced a modest yet notable 3% increase in registrations year-on-year, with 1,519 units registered in February 2024. Year-to-date registrations in this segment reached 2,966 units, showcasing a 5% growth compared to the same period last year.

The segment of commercial vehicles over 16 tonnes (excluding buses) also demonstrated positive growth, with registrations totaling 5,610 units in February 2024, reflecting a 9% increase year-on-year. Year-to-date registrations in this category reached 11,347 units, marking a 5% increase compared to the previous year.

The bus segment experienced substantial growth in February 2024, with registrations reaching 510 units, marking an impressive 25% increase compared to the same month last year. Year-to-date bus registrations stood at 1,102 units, reflecting 27% growth compared to the previous year.
