Michelin is launching a new size for high-capacity loaders: the Michelin Xtra Power L5. 26.5 R25, designed to withstand demanding environments such as mines and quarries.
New Michelin Xtra Power
Designed to meet the requirements of larger, more powerful vehicles equipped with high-capacity buckets, the new Michelin Xtra Power L5 26.5 R25 enables an increased load capacity of up to 18.5 tonnes, representing a 23% improvement compared with the previous generation.
For this new size, Michelin engineers developed a curved tread pattern with spaced rubber blocks that reduce stress on the ground contact surface while maximising protection. The crown and sidewalls of the tyre have been reinforced to improve torque transmission and increase productivity.
The new tread design and rubber compound deliver increased robustness, while withstanding abrasive surfaces and facilitating movement across various terrains such as rocks, debris and sand. This helps reduce the risk of tyre slippage on the rim and prevents premature wear. The Michelin Xtra Power L5 26.5 R25 enables fleet managers to optimise tyre usage and reduce long-term operating costs.
The new size can operate at pressures of up to 7.5 bar, which improves machine stability by 20% and further enhances the operator’s comfort, even during intensive loading cycles. Additionally, adding metal in the crown and protective layers has led to further reinforcement, and the result is a more robust tyre with high resistance to external damage.
