Goodyear has issued a recall on selected KMax D Gen-2 truck tyres after the EU Safety Gate identified a manufacturing fault increasing safety risks.
Affected Production Window
According to the EU’s Safety Gate alert system for hazardous non-food items, Goodyear has initiated a recall involving selected KMax D Gen-2 truck tyres.
The action covers the 295/80 R22.5 152/148M drive-axle models produced at the firm’s Wittlich factory in Germany during a short window earlier this year, specifically between September 22nd and October 12th (calendar weeks 39 to 41).
Reason for Recall and Identification Details
Safety Gate states that a manufacturing variation affects some tyres. It creates a thin liner condition that may cause air pressure loss, reduce vehicle control, and increase the risk of injury.
The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, as well as with systems, components, and separate technical units intended for such vehicles, and the UNECE Regulation R54.
You can identify the Goodyear KMax D Gen-2 truck tyre by checking the DOT number on the sidewall. This reads 1DN87 AFBW 3925, 1DN87 AFBW 4025, and 1DN87 AFBW 4125.
