YOHT let Kirkby Tyres do the selling, whilst YOHT presented the corporate message to the press

Kirkby Tyres was one of the busiest non-equipment stands at LAMMA 2024, and they are Yokohama Off Highway Tires (YOHT) key distributor in the UK. However, YOHT took the opportunity to make a corporate presentation to invited guests at LAMMA. Commercial Tyre Business was happy to be one of the chosen publications to attend.

YOHT is a specialist division of Yokohama that focuses on off highway tyres, including the agricultural sector.  Yokohama was founded in 1917 and currently employs 25,000 people. YOHT is present on six continents and employs around 8,000 staff.

The majority of YOHT manufacturing now takes place in India, where the production of Alliance tyres is now focused.

Rajesh Patel, YOHT Associate Director for UK and Ireland talked about the latest Alliance products: The Agri Star II 65 series, thew Agriflex 373 VF, and the Agriflex 373VF.

The Agri Star II

The Alliance Agri Star II is available in 21 sizes and 25 SKUs.

Thanks to the unique Stratified Layer Technology (SLT) developed by Alliance, this radial tyre for tractors offers consistent traction & self-cleaning even with advanced service life and thus impresses with long-lasting performance. Farmers and contractors appreciate the good balance of grip and soil protection, efficiency and quality.

Patel explained; “The Alliance Agri Star II not only offers outstanding performance, but also a comfortable and quiet driving experience. The tyre’s higher rubber volume in the centre of the tyre with the special lug design also ensures high comfort and good stability on the road, as well as improved skid and break resistance. The AGRI STAR II family comes with D rated speed index – 65 km/ph.

“The Agriflex 373+ tyre”, says Patel. “Is a cutting-edge innovation designed to revolutionise agricultural operations. This tyre combines advanced Stratified Layer & VF technology to deliver top performance in the field and road.”

The goal was to offer a hybrid product, which performs in field operations as well as on the road. With the new Alliance Agriflex 373+, we are combining the best characteristics of lug and block type design, which enables the tyre to perform like a true all-rounder in all applications.

This is the first time any manufacturer has introduced a hybrid VF tyre with R1-W tread depth for both On & Off-Road application with the Stratified Layer Technology (SLT) – which YOHT uses with its renowned Agri Star ll. The introduction of SLT (Stratified Layer Technology) addresses the need for prolonged traction, while the centre rib/block profile ensures smooth roadability. Additionally, VF (Very High Flexion) technology enables operations at significantly lower tyre pressures. This unique product encompasses all these innovations, making it one of its kind in the market. On the field, this tyre ensures superior longevity and offer excellent traction capabilities until the end of the tyre’s life.

This tyre ensures that best soil protection and thereby increasing yield efficiency. “This tyre provides 40% more load carrying capacity at standard tyre pressure or 40% lower pressure at standard tyre load, which lead to better efficiency,” says Patel.

Alliance 373 VibroFarm

YOHT research showed a need for a tyre capable of withstanding what it describes as uneven loadings. In particular this is a stress put on tyres on tractors used for the likes of olive harvesting, not a huge market in the UK, but still applicable for mechanised fruit harvesting on some more traditional orchards.

The Alliance 373 VibroFarm offers an adapted tyre concept. A new, reinforced carcass construction with steel belt ensures high stability of tyre and machine during operations, even under extreme loads.

Stratified Layer Technology

The Stratified Layer Technology (SLT) developed by Alliance ensures high traction and low slippage, especially in extreme operating situations, such as slopes with heavy wet soils. In addition, a very high self-cleaning of the tyre is achieved.

“The new Alliance 373 is a good example of how we offer technically and market-specifically innovative tyre solutions. This is our first tyre concept developed exclusively for the Iberian market and the special requirements of olive, pistachio, grape harvesting, front loader tractor, following extensive user surveys and field tests,” says Patel.

The Stratified Layer Technology used in these latest tyres from Alliance is a double layered tread lug – Each lug has two layers, each with its own profile. The first layer with a multi-angle profile and the second layer with a single angle profile.  As soon as the top layer is worn away after about 40 per cent tread wear, the features of the second lug layer take effect. The changed geometry brings consistent traction & roadability for further service life – as if it were a completely new tyre, according to Patel.
