Tractor Driver of the Year 2021 Contest Sees Trelleborg Honour Farming Professionals

In November, Trelleborg Wheel Systems attended the “Tractor Driver of the Year” competition at the Cremona Circuit in Italy. With 40 participants from across the country competing for the coveted prize, Roberto De Simone came up on top.

Trelleborg Excited to be Part of Unique Ceremony

Drivers performed a series of rigorous tests for the competition, including manoeuvring, hoisting, reversing and trailer manoeuvring. In addition, a stability challenge put Trelleborg’s PneuTrac tyre to the test, testing its mettle on both steep slopes and muddy terrain.

The PneuTrac tyre is suitable for delicate vineyards and orchards – especially important in the wine-growing regions of Italy. The radial agricultural tyre has a wide footprint and solid traction, including on paved roads.

Trelleborg’s technical partner for the day’s events was the McCormick brand of Argo Tractors, which provided all tractors used in the competition. The McCormick X4.40 N tractor, for example, was fitted with a brand-new set of PneuTrac tyres, sized VF 420/70R28, VF 280/70R20, both front and rear.

Alessandro Mazzolini, Managing Director of Trelleborg Wheel Systems in Italy, says: “Seeing these drivers competing in this exciting event means witnessing tyre excellence in action. It provides the perfect occasion for participants to try out for themselves the latest Trelleborg innovations in the field..”

Concluding, he added, “It was truly exhilarating for all of us at Trelleborg to spend a fun-filled day with our customers, who share our passion and commitment for farming, offering them a unique experience on the field.”
