Nokian Tyres have helped continue the digital transformation of heavy tyres with their new Intuitu smart tyre, which make a difference for everyday driving as well as fleet management. The new smart tyre, first introduced at the Agritechnica 2019 fair, last November in Hanover, will be made available for selected agricultural and contracting tractor tyres and will be sold initially from Finland.
Intitu Smart Tyres Available for Purchase
When Nokian Tyres released its Intuitu tyre it was immediately praised by audiences for its plug & pay simplicity, heralding a new style of smart tyre solution. All the client needs to do is to have sensor-equipped smart tyres and an app installed on your smartphone which informs you of your tyre pressure and temperature data.
“Fleet managers in particular were excited about the prospect of having vital tyre information and alarms available with a minimal need for configuration,” says Matthew Crocker, Product Manager at Nokian Tyres. “Premium tractor tyres are an investment you want to look after.”
In its current phase, Nokian Tyres Intuitu consists of sensor-equipped smart tyres and its mobile application. Once you buy the smart tyres and install the app, you will be able to view the information related to tyre position and pressure. For fleet owners, another interesting advantage is that they are invite as many drivers and vehicles as needed. This allows the driver to stay up to date with all the technical information, as well as receive alerts on their vehicle they are using, allowing for more peace of mind, safer working conditions and extended warranty, as the Intuitu registration actually helps extend the tyre warranty.
From a managerial stance, the fleet manager can utilise the information to maximise tyre and machinery usage, whilst helping to reduce downtime for their machines, as well as general costs. The industry also benefits with machine manufactures able to benefit from the plug & play smart tyre solution, as well as the increased customer commitment it brings to the industry.
The Intuitu smart tyre solution has been comprehensively tested and has already become an important part of the test users daily work. Finnish property maintenance contractor, Jari Suontausta has been using Intuitu in his fleet of three tractors. His ways of working have been enhanced with the digital dimension of tyres.
“Nokian Tyres Intuitu both makes the tracking of the tyre condition easier and provides financial savings,” Jari Suontausta stated. “Mornings are effortless now that I can check that everything is okay with just one look at my phone.”
Jari Suontausta is also impressed by how Nokian Tyres Intuitu has helped him to react quickly if there is a problem with a tyre. “There are sometimes a lot of nails and metal pieces at work sites, which is why tyre punctures aren’t uncommon,” he explains. “Tears are easy and inexpensive to fix if they are spotted early, but a very expensive tyre can be ruined if the problem isn’t noticed in time.”
Nokian Tyres Intuitu smart tyre sales are starting gradually, with the roll out starting in Finland and with the four flagship Nokian Tyres tractor tyres – Nokian Ground King, Nokian TRI 2, Nokian Hakkapeliitta TRI and Nokian Tractor King. The factory will start shipping orders in September, and the Intuitu application will be available for download at the same time. Ordering will take place through the Vianor tyre dealer chain in the first phase, and other dealers will follow. The tyres are delivered within the normal delivery time.
“Finland is our home turf and customers are eager to try out new technologies,” says Manu Salmi, SVP, Managing Director at Nokian Heavy Tyres. “And we have a roadmap for expanding the availability to other countries as well.”
