Goodyear Remains The FIA ETRC Title Sponsor With New Tyre Specification

Goodyear FIA ETRC

Goodyear will continue to fulfil its traditional position as title partner and exclusive tyre supplier of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) in 2024. The opening round of the tournament will take place on May 25 and May 26, 2024, in Misano, Italy.

New Truck Racing Tyre

Goodyear is introducing a completely new tyre compound for the race this season. Developed for more grip, especially in wet conditions, it will contribute to increased safety in truck racing. The Goodyear FIA ETRC rules mandate the use of a single tyre in various conditions across various tracks. Therefore, it can be very challenging to perform optimally throughout the racing series.

With the introduction of the new Goodyear truck racing tyre, the performance spectrum is broader because the tyre offers more grip in wet conditions and increased durability. The further development extends tyre life, increases tyre performance and supports the ETRC’s sustainability goals by reducing tyre consumption over the season.

The tyre was developed at Goodyear’s innovation centre in Luxembourg and tested at the Goodyear Proving Grounds test and analysis centre in Texas, at the Nürburgring, the Autodrom Most and the Slovakiaring. During development, the engineers focused primarily on optimising the product’s contact patch to achieve the most even wear possible and optimise tyre performance.

The tournament consists of seven races. On the way to the award ceremony, it will be visiting Italy, Slovakia, Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic, France and Spain. All eyes will be on Norbert Kiss, the five-time race winner who has dominated the season for the past three years.

Drive Results Tour

With its Drive Results Tour 2024, Goodyear will be present in the paddock and the fan zone at all stops in the tournament. Industry representatives can get an idea of Goodyear Total Mobility and how this holistic mobility concept helps fleets increase fuel efficiency, reduce total cost of ownership and reduce the risk of tyre-related vehicle failures.

“Goodyear is very much looking forward to continuing its presence in the ETRC, a particularly high-profile truck race worldwide, in 2024. As title sponsor, we are committed to ensuring top performance on the track. This achievement continues beyond the tournament with millions of truck tyres and state-of-the-art solutions from the Goodyear brand that are used every day by transport companies on Europe’s roads,” says Maciej Szymański, Commercial Marketing Director at Goodyear.

“Another great news is the inclusion of truck racing in the FIA Motorsport Games program for the first time. We are pleased to be present at this international event in Valencia in October,” adds Szymański. “It proves the great appeal of truck racing all over the world. We are thrilled that Goodyear will be a key part of bringing this experience to fans.”

“Goodyear, our exclusive tyre supplier and title sponsor of the tournament, is continually pushing the boundaries of innovation in truck racing,” says Georg Fuchs, Managing Director at ETRA. “With the introduction of its next-generation tyre, Goodyear reaffirms its position as a market leader in truck tyres – for racing trucks and commercial vehicles. This means truck racing is heading towards greater safety, performance and sustainability.”

In this year’s Goodyear FIA ETRC season, Goodyear will rely on tyre retreading once again. After the races, the used truck racing tyres are retreaded for subsequent use by transport companies. By extending the tyre life through retreading, Goodyear and the ETRC are emphasising their commitment to reducing the environmental footprint of this tournament. At the same time, they optimise performance on the race track and in transport operations.
