Goodyear Iberia’s industrial vehicle department has organised the first OTR tyre fitting training course, as the company looks to stress the importance of improving safety during the tyre fitment process. Given the complexity of these tyres which are characterised by large dimensions and heavy weights, training is key in the sector to avoid accidents, injuries and unforeseen downtime.
Training Highlights the Versatility and Expertise Needed for OTR Tyres
The training, which took place on 30th November and 1st December at the Ferrovial facilities in Seseña, Toledo, helped customers get to grips with the complex and bulky tyres. With the sessions given by Cometil España and Goodyear’s own OTR team, attendees for the event included Neumáticos Soledad, Neumáticos Iruña, Neumáticos Medina and Neumáticos Navaliegos.
The first part, carried out by Cometil España, focused on the characteristics of the tyres and their assembly needs in terms of safety. Goodyear formed the second part of the training session, along with Neumáticos Medina, which related to tyre positioning. In this section, with Neumáticos Medina using its rigid CAT 773B dumper and 2 Goodyear 24.00R35 RT-4A + tyres, participants could witness the tyres in action. As part of the practical training, the Goodyear tyres were removed and mounted from the right rear position as part of the logistics training.
By offering this special training, Goodyear’s OTR Force network benefitted from an intensive session related to the difficulties of the OTR tyre, as well as how best to utilise the specialist tyres according to fleet needs.
