Continental has launched its largest tractor tyre to date, the VF TractorMaster, with dimensions VF900/60R42. With a diameter of 2,147 millimeters, the tyre weighs 475 kilograms with a load index of 189 (10,300 kg).
Continental Goes Large with its VF TractorMaster
These dimensions are specifically designed for the tyre to support the weight of agricultural machinery with more than 300 horsepower.
Rising costs and the pressure to transport ever larger loads in less time mean that the demand for powerful farm machinery is ever greater. “This development not only demands maximum performance from the machines, but also from their tyres. That is why we develop and test our agricultural tyres in close cooperation with our customers,” says Benjamin Hübner, Product Line Manager for Continental agricultural tyres.
“Behind the trend towards large machines is the main goal of working even more efficiently and profitably. Therefore, Continental launched in 2022 five new tyre sizes for its VF TractorMaster (650/60 R 34; 650/65 R 42; 710/75 R42; 650/65 R 34; 710/60 R 34).”
Suitable for field and road
Thanks to VF technology, the tyre can run with 40% more load at the same pressure as a standard tyre or 40% less pressure at the same load. In addition, tyres with VF technology consume less fuel than conventional tyres for tractors. “The VF TractorMaster combines efficiency and soil preservation. VF technology enables a smooth transition from field to road without having to adjust tyre pressure. At the same time, the impact of heavy machinery on the ground is minimised thanks to a wider tread surface when working in the field,” says Hübner.
Continental strives to continuously expand its agricultural tyre business as part of its Vision 2030 strategy. The portfolio expansion and realignment of the Agricultural Tyres business field, led by Ivonne Bierwirth, underline the company’s growth strategy.
