How Vaculug Keeps Fleet Tyre Management Simple

Some fleet management platforms are trying to become operating systems for an entire vehicle. Vaculug, on the other hand, has taken a deliberately taken a bit of a narrower view: stay focused on tyres, do that one thing well and make it as easy as possible for a fleet manager to see what is going on without analysing so much data.

“We remain focused on tyre maintenance and are continuously making improvements to develop our Vaculug Management System (VMS), so it remains industry leading,” said Megan Campion, Marketing Manager at Vaculug. It’s a deliberately modest ambition compared with some of the “full ecosystem” monitoring systems elsewhere, but according to Megan, that focus is exactly the point.

Focusing on Decisions, Not Data

At the core of Vaculug’s offering is the Vaculug Management System (VMS), a customer-facing dashboard that Megan described as bespoke to each account. It pulls together expenditure, call-outs, tyre fitments by size and position, removal reasons, lost tread, inspection data and service work into one live view, ensuring that a fleet manager can make decisions quickly rather than compiling reports from scratch.

One key feature that Megan pointed out stands out as quite practical bit of automation: the system checks every job shet against five key factors automatically and if a job fails one or more of them, it’s flagged for further scrutiny, meaning that problems get surfaced without anyone having to go looking for them.

There’s a broader technology behind VMS: its tyre pressure monitoring system, VPMS, tracks tyre performance, temperature and pressure in real time, which Vaculug says helps reduce fuel consumption, improve safety and reduce downtime. A separate tool, V-Heel Loss detects loose wheel nuts and alerts the driver in the cab while simultaneously sending that data to fleet managers remotely, showing the Vaculug’s narrow, safety-focused tyre-first approach rather than a general fleet-management ambition.

Where the Savings Come From

When talking about the biggest cost savings come from, Megan simply explained that it’s tyre life. “We focus on extending tyre life by identifying opportunities to maximise the life of every tyre asset, helping fleets reduce unnecessary replacement costs and improve overall tyre efficiency. The VMS system provides clear visibility of inspection rates and associated costs, enabling fleet managers to monitor performance and ensure the fleet is being inspected and managed effectively,” Megan said.

This tyre-life focus lines up with the company’s core retreading business – where purchasing a new tyre is one option Vaculug’s retreading process is positioned as a way to significantly reduce tyre costs without sacrificing performance, while also improving the mileage of each tyre, which further results in fewer purchases over the life of a fleet.

Staying in Its Lane

Vaculug is explicit that it isn’t trying to become a “single core system” across a fleet’s entire operation. When asked whether the long-term vision extends beyond tyre into the wider vehicle ecosystem, Megan clearly said no – Vaculug’s investment is going into keeping VMS sharp and industry-leading within its existing remit rather than expanding into adjacent territory.

Vaculug’s approach also features a simple design: the VMS dashboard is scoped specifically to the tyre contact, presenting KPIs that let a fleet manager understand how that contact is performing without needing to go through large volumes of data in the first place. “Our VMS dashboard is designed to give fleet managers a clear and immediate overview of the tyre contact. KPIs are presented, allowing them to understand how the contact is performing without having to look through large volumes of data,” Megan explained.

Vaculug’s systems also do not require fitting sensors or any hardware. Customers are simply given a link and a login to access their data, along with training on how to use the system.

Speaking of Vaculug’s approach to AI, Megan explained that the company is already using AI within VMS to read job sheets, reducing manual administrative work and helping its teams capture information more quickly. This represents a part of a broader effort to streamline processes and make better use of the data already being generated across customer fleets, rather than as a customer-facing AI assistant feature.

Right-Sized for Every Fleet

For smaller fleets, Vaculug offers flexibility rather than a fixed entry-level tier, meaning the system can be tailored to the size and specific requirements of each customer, which scales up or down the level of service and data provided accordingly. A smaller fleet might do perfectly well with a streamlined view that skips the full dashboard altogether, while larger, more complex fleets that generate significantly more data get the full centralised platform to spot trends, manage costs and make informed decisions.

“This flexible approach ensures that every customer receives a fleet management solution that is practical and focused on delivering genuine value to their business,” Megan concludes.
