The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) released new-vehicle registration statistics for November 2025, showing a mixed performance across commercial vehicle sectors. Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) recorded robust growth, while Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) posted a solid monthly increase. In contrast, bus registrations continued to decline.
SIMI Statistics for November 2025
According to the latest SIMI report, LCV registrations recorded a strong growth of almost 95%, with a total of 1,035 registrations. Year-to-date data also showed growth of 6.2%, with 32,476 units, indicating delivery, service and logistics sectors’ strong investment in fleet renewals as well as increased business confidence heading into 2026.
HGV registrations also had a positive performance in November 2025, with 112 units, representing a 16.6% growth. However, year-to-date data show a 6.7% decline with 2,653 units, suggesting businesses’ ongoing caution in larger commercial fleet investment, potentially linked to cost pressures, financing conditions, or slower renewal cycles.
Bus registrations significantly declined compared to November 2024 (-33.6%), with 381 units, suggesting delayed procurement and replacement cycles in public transport and private coach operators, which could be due to budget constraints or awaiting delivery of new low-emission models.
