The National Association of Tyre Distributors and Importers (ADINE) in Spain held its Ordinary General Assembly on May 9th in the Carlos Ferrer Salat hall of CEOE, in Madrid, bringing together 75 professionals.
About the Event
During his speech, Juan Ramón Pérez Vázquez, the president of ADINE, emphasised that the sector is currently experiencing a “changing era” which requires a resilient and strategic attitude from companies. The president of ADINE stated that the European Union Regulation on Deforestation (EUDR) “marks a turning point” for tyre imports, emphasising the importance of strengthening sector unity.
Fátima Báñez, president of the CEOE Foundation, also spoke at the ADINE General Assembly, emphasising the need to “respect and recognise business” as a fundamental economic development agent. She advocated for simplifying the administrative burden, promoting increased collective bargaining to address the challenges of the current labour market.
Guillermo López, from the General Subdirectorate of Energy Efficiency at MITECO, presented Energy Saving Certificates (CAES) as a key tool to incentivise energy efficiency improvements, highlighting its application in the tyre sector. The project is currently under development and aims to promote the replacement of old tyres with more efficient ones, specifically with lower rolling resistance, as a part of the transport decarbonisation goals.
Marta Angoloti, representative of the Subdirectorate General for Forest Policy and Combating Desertification at MITECO, gave a final presentation at the ADINE General Assembly, analysing the impact of the EUDR. Angoloti spoke about the new requirements for products derived from raw materials, such as natural rubber, which directly affect the tyre supply chain, expressing concern about the heavy bureaucratic burden and origin controls that companies must comply with.
ADINE also held the award ceremony at the end of the event, recognising Antonio and Mario Puche Marco, from Hijos de Ramón Puche, for their promotion of business associations and their key role as founding partners of ADINE in 2006. Additionally, a posthumous tribute was given to José María Martínez Mallén, founder of Neumáticos JM Martínez, S.L., in recognition of his professional career and commitment to the sector.
