Alliance Field Day at Hof Vogelsang: Tyre Impact on Soil Health

On April 16, 2025, Alliance hosted a Field Day at Hof Vogelsang, the farm owned by German farmer and content creator Stefan Vogelsang.

Field Day

A total of 150 attendees, including farmers and industry experts, had a chance to explore the latest advancements in farm tyre technology and the impact they have on soil health and farming efficiency. The Field Day featured a series of demonstrations that aimed to highlight the role of tyre technology in modern farming. Attendees had a chance to see how Alliance tyre solutions, including Very High Flexion (VF) technology, impact soil preservation, improve fuel consumption and overall farm productivity.

How Tyre Technology Saves Soil

Soil compaction and footprint demo showed the difference in soil compaction between high-pressure and low-pressure tyres. Attendees had a chance to see how Alliance VF tires, with their larger footprints, minimise soil compaction, improve water permeability and contribute to higher yields.

Host Stefan Vogelsang ran a tractor and tandem slurry tanker over the station, once at 0.8 bar of tyre pressure and once at 2.6 bar. The result: at the lower tyre pressure, the compaction caused by the machinery was 15 cm less deep, making it accessible with a standard cultivator. “This just goes to show the importance of avoiding compaction in lower layers to maintain a good soil structure and water permeability,” he commented.

Slippage demo showcased how proper tyre pressure and VF technology reduce slippage, improve traction and save energy, resulting in more efficient fieldwork.

The tyre pressure demo showed the importance of correct tyre pressure settings and how they impact tyre longevity, fuel efficiency and work speed. Attendees even had the chance to measure and adjust tyre pressures themselves, gaining practical insights into tire management.

Alliance Tyres at Hof Vogelsang

Hof Vogelsang uses a wide range of machinery, including Fendt 728 and the John Deere 6R215, both equipped with Alliance Agriflex+ 372 tyres. According to Alliance, these machines demonstrated the benefits of Alliance’s tyre technology, from reduced soil impact to improved traction in challenging conditions.

Alliance Field Day at Hof Vogelsang further emphasised the company’s commitment to sustainable farming practices. Stefan Vogelsang, host of the event, commented: “It is incredible to see how much of a difference the right tyres can make—not just for the efficiency of our work but also for the health of our soil. Events like this are essential for sharing knowledge and helping farmers make informed decisions.”
