Vaculug supports this year’s National Careers Week, highlighting its employment initiatives and long-standing contribution to skills development across the East Midlands and beyond.

Regional and National Employment

For over 75 years, Vaculug has supported regional and national employment, and as part of National Careers Week, the company is promoting career opportunities in engineering, sustainable manufacturing and business functions, while encouraging students to consider long-term career pathways.

This year, Vaculug is placing particular emphasis on the role of the circular economy in the UK’s future industrial landscape. Through its tyre manufacturing operations, the company states it can save up to 70% of the war materials needed to produce a new tyre, contributing to wider Net Zero objectives and resource efficiency.

Apprenticeships remain central to Vaculug’s growth strategy. Following its 75th anniversary celebrations last year, which included a reception at the Houses of Parliament, Vaculug has reaffirmed its commitment to investing in local talent. Current apprenticeship opportunities span mechanical engineering, technical production, business administration and marketing, offering earn-while-you-learn pathways for young people in Grantham and the surrounding areas.

Vaculug’s manufacturing processes also highlight the importance of STEM subjects within the sustainable industry. During National Careers Week, the company will attend a local career fair to showcase its operations and promote opportunities within the business. The initiative follows its recent participation in National Apprenticeship Week, where it recognised the contributions of apprentices.

Jorge Crespo, Managing Director of Vaculug, said: “We want students to see that subjects like Mathematics and Chemistry aren’t just abstract concepts, they are the tools we use to reduce carbon emissions and build a more resilient UK supply chain. Right here in Grantham, we are leading the charge to create Britain’s future, circular economy.  National Careers Week is the perfect time to remind young people of the exciting and diverse career opportunities available to them locally.”
