Tyron Runflat accelerates its growth with a major facility expansion. This paves the way for a UK centre of excellence and next-generation tyre safety innovation.
Expanding UK Facilities to Boost Commercial Vehicle Safety and Innovation
Supporting commercial vehicles amid intense economic pressure, Tyron Runflat is doubling its facility. The inventor of the multi-piece rubber Runflat system plans to establish its first UK centre of excellence within five years.
Scaling its operations at pace, the expansion will facilitate further growth, robust testing, and increased opportunities for research and development. As leaders in tyre safety, Tyron has launched its latest products: the lightest single-piece runflat and a discreet defence wheel.
Tyron’s tyre safety solutions protect commercial vehicle operators on debris-strewn highways and long-haul journeys, significantly improving survival rates. Vulnerable to tyre deflation, the solutions provide a lifeline for an industry facing supply chain volatility and worsening driver shortages.
New Design and Development Team to Drive Innovation Under Director Dr Stuart Turner
Tyron Runflat will establish a new design team in 2026, led by Dr Stuart Turner, to support its expanding facility.
Stuart Turner, Director at Tyron Runflat, commented, “After recently joining the Tyron team, this is an exciting next step in our business development. My background is in engineering design and materials science, so I’m delighted to be expanding our team capabilities within this area.”
“My main focuses are business processes and diversifying our product ranges, so as we build a team to support these goals, we’re entering a new chapter of innovation.”
“Our work isn’t only about creating our life-saving product ranges, it’s about focusing on design, materials and product development.”
“Commercial vehicles are susceptible to tyre deflation, with long haul journeys on damaged roads. With this in mind, we’re constantly looking at innovating each of our products to provide the lightest and most reliable alternatives.”
Strategic Investment Sets the Stage for Tyron’s 2026 UK Centre of Excellence
Peter Simson, Director at Tyron Runflat, commented, “2025 has been a really big year for us, and we continue to invest, progress and build our business. This latest expansion is one part of our 2026 goals to create a UK centre of excellence. We’re known for our industry-leading tyre safety solutions, as the inventor of the world’s only multi-piece rubber Runflat system.”
“It remains paramount that we continue to invest back into our business to continually be advancing our product ranges, part of this is providing the space for our team to grow.”
“I’m a firm believer in open workspaces where our teams can collaborate and remain engaged. This expansion further supports our aims for growth and our plans throughout the coming year.”
The Tyron Multiband system enables the tyre to lock onto the wheel rim in the event of a blowout. This prevents catastrophic loss of control. Testers have approved the bands for high-speed pursuit vehicles at 250 km/h (156 mph), improving passenger safety.
