The latest data from Mobility Sweden shows growth in LCV registrations in September after a long period of decline.
The Latest Trends
In October, there were a total of 3,335 LCV registrations, representing a 14% increase, according to Mobility Sweden. After a long period of challenging market conditions, during which many customers postponed vehicle renewals, demand for new vehicles and improved operating efficiency has now risen. However, year-to-date data show a 15% decline, after eight months of declining sales earlier this year.
Heavy truck registrations decline by 2%, with 491 units, with year-to-date data showing a 5% decline. “The heavy lorry market remains challenging and electrification has stalled. There is an urgent need to introduce additional policy instruments, such as CO₂-differentiated road tolls, to promote increased electrification,” added Mattias Bergman, CEO of Mobility Sweden.
This year has been particularly successful for bus registrations, which reached 161 units in October. Year-to-date data show that bus registrations have nearly tripled, which is explained by improved delivery capacity and new public transport procurements in regional traffic.
