Bridgestone Adds Fuel Saving Trailer Tyre to Ecopia Range
New Regional All-Position Sizes from GT Radial
GT Radial has announced the introduction of two new sizes of its popular GAR820 regional all- position pattern tyre. Initially available in 215/75R17.5, the brand has added
205/75R17.5 and 225/75R17.5 with 235/75R17.5 and 245/70R17.5 currently in development and due for release later in the year.
The GAR820 has been specifically designed to respond to increased requirements on the part of medium-sized trucks for comfort, low noise, good
wet grip and handling in additional to excellent wear performance. The tyre is M&S marked.
BUS400: Maximum Grip in Severe Weather Conditions
Bridgestone has added a dedicated trailer product to its Ecopia range of truck tyres in the form of the new Ecopia H-Trailer 001. The specialised tyre has been designed to achieve increased fuel saving in highway operations, courtesy of improved rolling-resistance and wet
conditions.
By incorporating Bridgestone’s exclusive NanoPro-TechTM compound which reduces energy loss the Ecopia H-Trailer 001 has improved rolling resistance without compromising other tyre performance areas such as drive
traction, wet grip and mileage. The tyre also features a
waved belt, which increases casing
stability and durability allowing
for higher load capability and
casing retreadability. The new tyre
has been designed to be used
alongside the
existing Ecopia H-Steer
001 and Ecopia H-Drive
001, which independent tests have shown
to provide 18.9% and 26.5% lower
rolling resistance respectively than the
previous Ecopia series. According to Bridgestone, by using the tyres in combination with the Ecopia H-Trailer 001, highway operators can now save up to 5% in fuel costs
The Ecopia H-Trailer 001 is available in size 385/55 R22.5 and boasts a B grade in rolling resistance, C in wet grip, and a noise value of 73 dB according to the European tyre labelling regulation.

This new-generation product meets the demands of the extremely competitive and selective intercity coach market, thanks to its ability to combine performance and quality.
The BUS400 profile has been designed to respond to the needs of the tourist coach segment, operating over long distances on major roads, however also on wet or snow-covered surfaces, where safe travel and good traction are essential requirements, while at the same time ensuring high mileage. Consequently, the tyres intended for applications in this segment need to guarantee excellent traction, without losing
out in terms of
mileage.
The directional tread
pattern features a
variable block
arrangement and deep 3D siping with interlock technology to ensure excellent traction on any type of surface; specifically, the square tread profile means an exceptionally wide footprint that maximises grip on the road, allowing the tread to adapt to continuous changes in both road and weather conditions during operation.
These features mean excellent
control on wet, snow-covered and icy surfaces, but also high mileage, thanks to a new-concept compound that combines grip and mileage by ensuring low rolling resistance and lower fuel consumption.
Comparative tests against standard products
show
how
these tyres
feature up to 20 % more grip, for maximum mobility in all road conditions, and up to 10% higher mileage.
Finally the pattern is designed to ensure that the tread is constantly kept “clean” of any mud, snow and water, while tests have also highlighted a significant reduction in road noise, thus guaranteeing maximum comfort. The profile is available in size 295/80R22.5.
