Linglong Tire unveils the world’s largest OTR tyre, showcasing innovation and expanding its global heavy-duty tyre presence.
Record-Breaking OTR Tyre
Linglong Tire presents the world’s largest OTR tyre with the 59/80 R63 LXD Master Pro, impressively demonstrating its outstanding and independent innovative strength. Built in Changchun, China, the 63″ tyre has a diameter of over four metres and a weight exceeding six tonnes. Mining operators primarily use the 100-tonne-capacity tyre on large off-highway dump trucks, such as the Caterpillar 797 or Komatsu 980, in mining operations. These operations include both open-cast and underground mines, mainly in Australia, South America, and Africa.
Decades of OTR Expertise
Linglong has nearly 40 years of experience in producing OTR tyres. Since manufacturing its first cross-ply tyre for agricultural machinery in 1987, Linglong has steadily expanded its three main product lines – mechanical, agricultural, and industrial tyres – developing extensive technical know-how. This expertise was crucial in the research and development of the 59/80 R63 LXD Master Pro, helping overcome technical challenges in structural design, materials, and production.
Closing the Technology Gap
The launch of the 59/80 R63 LXD Master Pro not only fills a gap in Linglong’s OTR portfolio of 63″ giant radial tyres but also demonstrates that the company has mastered technologies that, until recently, were exclusive to leading international premium brands. This positions Linglong Tire as one of the world’s leading manufacturers in the OTR segment.
Strategic Global Expansion
To meet rising OTR tyre demand, the company optimised production capacity planning in 2022. As part of its global strategic “7+5” layout, Linglong Tire has implemented a dedicated “3+3” plan for OTR tyres. In the future, Linglong Tire will manufacture OTR tyres at three production sites in China and three production sites abroad.
