VDA Reports Truck Sales Increase

German truck sales are reported to have seen a continued increase in the first part of 2023, with March figures released by the VDA showing increases across the market, with the exception of trailers.

In total, registrations were up by 15 per cent to 34,858 units, with a year-to-date increase of 12 per cent with the running total at 88,623 units.

In the up to 6 tonne sector sales were up by 13 per cent in March and 10 percent in the year-to-date standings. In the heavier sectors 6 - 16 tonne and over 16 tonne, both saw increases of around 20 per cent.

Again, the bus and coach sector saw a similar growth rate of 20% with 463 units registered over the course of the month with 1,330 units sold in 2023 so far.

The fly in the ointment was the trailer sector which although still showing 30,304 units registered in March, came in with a decline of 16 per cent year-on-year, and the 70,072 units registered this year is 12 per cent down on last year.
