According to figures released by FederUnacoma, the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Association, the agricultural machinery market in Italy recorded a decline for all the main types of machinery during the first half of 2022, including an 11.9% decrease in tractor sales to 11,050 units.

Italian Equipment Sales Down

Despite the decrease, which was put down to problems in the supply chain, sales volumes still remained above the average of the last four years.

Registrations for combine harvesters at 216 units were also down, but still at high levels (-5.7% on 2021) and tractors with loading beds showed a 15% decrease to 278 units. A more consistent decline was seen in the market for telescopic handlers (-26.6% at the rate of 555 units sold). Trailer sales were also down, with 4,332 units registered, falling back by 9.2% compared to the same period in 2021.

Overall, despite the decline in volumes, FederUnacoma declared the sector to be in good health even if the rest of the year could be affected by variables relating to the cost of raw materials and the evolution of the geopolitical scenario.
