Goodyear Racing Truck Tyres on Display for the Public at Jarama Circuit

As the circuit opens for spectators once again, the penultimate round of the FIA European Truck (ETRA) championship at the Jarama RACE Circuit, sponsored by Goodyear, looks to be a closely contested battle.

Goodyear Celebrates 15 Years as the Exclusive Tyre Supplier for FIA European Truck Championship

The 34th Edition of the FIA European Truck Racing Spanish GP and the Spanish Truck Championship returns once again to the Jarama circuit with the added benefit of the return of spectators, keen to see how frontrunner Hungarian Norbert Kiss goes on with Sascha Lenz, Adam Lacko and Antonio Albacete all revving their engines in the hope of reaching a podium finish. With tyres provided having a maximum torque of 5,500 Nm, the trucks have the possibility of going from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in a mere 5 seconds.

Over the 2nd to 3rd October there will be eight tests, as well as the Superpole tests. With Goodyear providing the 315/70 R22.5 racing tyres and carcass technology, the uniquely asymmetric design of the tyres has been fully optimised to obtain the best pressure relation with the road, as well as the best resistance on the track. With 5.1 millimetre grooves to allow for easy water evacuation, as well as a rigid construction and 89% tread to asphalt contact area, the tyres have impressive grip, braking capabilities and traction in the heat.

The tyres have been developed by the same Goodyear high-tech truck tyre team, who constructed the KMAX-GEN 2 and FUELMAX-GEN 2 ranges.Working with tyres that have to stand up to high-demanding fleet expectations and high-mileage routes with little downtime and heavy urban usage, this technology translates well to Goodyear’s ETRC promotion. Seeing first hand how the tyres have to withstand curb impacts at rapid speeds, unforgiving temperatures, abrupt braking and huge figures This competition gives our engineers insight into all of these elements,” argues Szymanski, Goodyear’s European commercial vehicles Marketing Director.

The organisers of the Jarama Circuit expect 8,000 fans to enjoy an action-packed 2-day event, with the final round taking place at the Misano Circuit in Italy.
