Jochen Abt, Managing Director of Lakner Spedition + Logistik GmbH argues that Bridgestone offers “Optimal rolling resistance and a clear brand strategy” for the family-run business.

Flexibility the Winning Business Offer for Lakner Spedition + Logistik GmbH & Co. KG

With a range of BDF trailer trucks, LNGs, mega-trailers, and lone vehicles with fitting platforms, Lakner Spedition + Logistic GmbH & Co. KG needed a flexible tyre provider and solutions provider to handle the demands of every customer for all local and long-distance transport requests.

The medium-sized logistics organisation has demanding standards to achieve each year. Jochen Abt, explains, “With an average mileage of 120,000 kilometres per year, reliable tyres have to be tailored to all requirements of factory and system traffic and withstand challenging winter conditions. Since the complete switch to Bridgestone Duravis and Bridgestone Ecopia tyres, there were fewer failures. The good traction is particularly impressive.”

Since then, they have noticed how well the tyres respond to different weather conditions and their ability to clock miles without problems.

“At the centre of the truck and bus tyre segment are our Duravis R002 and Ecopia H002 tyre series, which, with their high-performance properties, provide vehicle fleet operators with effective but sustainable support,” says Christoph Frost, Director Commercial Products Bridgestone Central Europe.

“The Duravis R002 combines impressive performance with a good balance between mileage and rolling resistance. In addition, it currently covers the entire Dimension portfolio to offer a suitable solution for all types of fleet vehicles.

"It is gratifying to see how this concept generates steadily increasing interest in the market. We have received a lot of positive feedback, primarily concerning wet behaviour and traction. We are therefore very pleased to be able to implement a successful partnership with Jochen Abt and his team right from the start."

Combining lower raw materials and reduced CO2 emissions was an crucial factor for Jochen Abt. "After a year or more, we were able to determine an average fuel saving of around 1.4 litres per 100 kilometres by switching to Bridgestone Duravis tyres."

“Price, Performance and Service the Golden Triangle for High-Quality Products”

Abt believes the Bridgestone tyres have an ideal combination of price, performance and aftercare service. In terms of service, the Bridgestone kilometre contract includes the tyre pressure monitoring system Tirematics, which optimally covers the needs of Lakner Spedition + Logistik GmbH & Co. KG and at the same time provides relief in day-to-day work. Abt explains that this was why the company opted for the full-service contract.

The Bridgestone kilometre contract is part of the total tyre care concept, which includes a comprehensive package of services and products for fleet customers with a strict focus on reducing total operating costs. "To ensure efficient fleet management, we offer various innovative solutions to take a further step towards sustainable mobility," explains Christoph Frost.

Thorny challenges relating to storage and waste tyre management and capacity problems in workshops have been passed with the service contract, meaning it's no longer the responsibility of the contractual partner. "With the transfer of responsibility for all expenses in terms of tyre management, planning, economy and fuel savings," adds Jochen Abt. "And thanks to the individual personel of the employee responsible for us, we have a contact person for all matters relating to the tyre management contract."

Telematics Making a Difference for Lakner Spedition + Logistik GmbH & Co. KG

In particular, the Tirematics service module included in the kilometre contract represents a solution to the air pressure issue for Lakner Spedition + Logistik GmbH & Co. KG. The automated software solution for networked tyres helps control and analyse important information from truck and bus tyres using various tyre sensors. Fleet operators benefit from proactive maintenance where measures can be put in place before problems occur. At the same time, the service life of the tyres is extended, the failure rate is reduced, safety is increased, and, ultimately, the environment is protected thanks to the increased fuel efficiency. This Jochen Abt argues means the company has "an all-around carefree package with the possibility of saving costs," care of Bridgestone.
