Scandinavian tyre manufacturer Nokian Tyres is introducing a new all-season tyre for professional use. The new Nokian Seasonproof C is designed for drivers who need reliability and first-class safety for snowy and slushy winter days but who also want top-notch performance and effortless driving feel in the summer.
Developed for hard and versatile use, Nokian Seasonproof C offers precise handling and stability, excellent mileage and improved durability. Regardless of whether you are making every second count doing distribution on the narrow urban streets or cruising in your RV on country roads riddled with potholes, the Nokian Seasonproof C will carry heavy loads safely and reliably.
According to Nokian Tyres’ all-season consumer survey, European drivers specially value safety in all weather conditions throughout the year. Van and delivery vehicle drivers find reliability under varying conditions and near-zero temperatures equally important. Grip and handling with good wear and tear resistance were also among the most relevant properties.
Additionally, C-tyres are special products with structures and materials that are specially designed for heavy transport. The tread patterns and rubber compounds are designed to create tyres that can handle professional use. The new Nokian Seasonproof C is designed to be flexible and adaptable also in various weather conditions. It is tailored for optimal year-round use and comes with multiple innovations to ensure maximum safety, excellent mileage and durability. The handling properties of Nokian Seasonproof C are excellent, both on dry and wet as well as on snowy roads, says Mikko Liukkula, Development Manager at Nokian Tyres.
The new Nokian Seasonproof C offers safety and year-round convenience for Central European drivers. All the sizes come with the Snowflake symbol (3PMSF), which indicates that the tyre has been officially approved for winter use. Most of the sizes are in the best wet grip class A. The product range offers sizes for versatile professional and recreational use with a selection of 25 products from 14 to 17 inches, with speed ratings of R (170 km/h), S (180 km/h), T (190 km/h) and H (210 km/h). The product range will be available for consumers in autumn 2021.
The Season Sense concept consists of innovative features combining the tyre's tread design, structure and rubber compound. The directional, v-shaped multifunctional tread pattern with stiff center area is tailored to offer year-round safety and comfort. The new All-season tread compound offers impressive wet grip, mileage and fuel efficiency. The strong structure with patented Nokian Tyres’ Aramid Sidewall technology offers unique durability and improved wear life.
The durability of the new product is maximised thanks to Nokian Tyres’ unique Aramid Sidewall technology. The extremely strong aramid fibers strengthen the sidewalls providing more durability and protection for demanding driving situations. This technology protects the tyre against impacts, cuts, and potholes. Combined with a sturdy, tailored construction with thick steel belts, the Nokian Seasonproof C offers maximum durability and improved service life for heavy loads and rugged road conditions. New Nokian Seasonproof C has over 15 % better wear resistance in varying road conditions compared to its successor Nokian Weatherproof C.
The multifunctional tread pattern comes with a stiff centre area, which offers perfect handling and stability for all seasons. Each tread block is attached to the centre rib, which improves the tyre’s steering response and control on bare roads. The strong grooves on the tread start from the centre area and spread out toward the shoulders. The slush and water grooves in the middle of the tread are designed to maximise slushplaning and aquaplaning resistance. The grooves store water and slush between the tyre and the road and accelerate the flow away from the tyre.
Moreover, Grip Claws between the tread blocks on the surface of the tyre improve grip, especially when braking and accelerating. These special claws were designed to assist moving on snowy roads and other soft surfaces. The claws grip the surface of the road in a controlled manner and ensure better traction and braking grip for the tyre.
Together with the new tread compound, this design ensures even wear, comfortable driving feel and low rolling resistance. The low rolling resistance makes the Nokian Seasonproof C a fuel-efficient option for drivers who want to keep their environmental footprints low while saving in fuel costs.
For added safety, Nokian Seasonproof tyre family feature a Driving Safety Indicator (DSI) patented by Nokian Tyres. The location and pressure indicators on the information area on the tyre’s sidewall also improve safety. The information area allows for recording the correct inflation pressure and installation location when changing the tyres. Comfort and safety are further improved by an additional section that can be used to record the tightening torque of bolts.
