LCV and Industrial Vehicle Segments Double May 2020’s Benchmark in Spain
The Asociación Española de Fabricantes de Automóviles y Camiones, ANFAC (The Spanish Car and Truck Manufacturer’s Association) has published its latest report for May 2021, as the LCV and industrial vehicle segments have almost doubled their 2020 performance.
Bus Segment Improves on May 2020’s Performance
In the Spanish LCV segment, May saw a 103% increase compared to May 2020’s mark with 16,205 units registered. This has helped the segment report a 56% year-to-date increase on January to May 2020 with 72,608 units sold across Spain.
It is a similar story for industrial vehicles, with the latest figures from ANFAC highlighting a 99.9% increase from 924 units sold in May 2020 up to 1,846 in May 2021. This increase was mostly supported by 1,554 units sold in the over 16-tonne segment representing a 128.8% increase. As for the year-to-date figures, 2021 currently lies 35.3% ahead of January to May 2020 with 2,432 more units sold.
Finally, the bus segment has also seen a regeneration of sorts with a 31% year-on-year improvement on May 2020 with 117 units sold compared to the previous May. However, the year-to-date figures are slightly different to the LCV and industrial vehicle segments in that it is 22% down on 2020’s performance mark. This may be due to the bus segment still struggling to bounce back to pre-pandemic levels of activity, a similar story across all of Europe.
