Mitas, part of the Trelleborg Group, has unveiled its recently-developed EX-01 tyre, which is the first radial tyre for wheeled excavators. The new tyre features a non-directional EX-01 tread pattern, as well as reinforced sidewall construction.
The EX-01’s Sidewall Construction Exclusively Designed for Dual Mounting Systems
The EX-01, a new member of the excavator tyre family is designed not only for paved roads but also for demanding crushed stone or gravel terrains, which applies a lot of stress on the tyre. With its new steel construction, the tyre has greater stability and high puncture resistance.
Jaroslav Musil, Mitas Product Manager for Material Handling & Construction Tyres adds of the construction, “Dual mounted tyres are often damaged by stone ingress. To date, construction machinery manufacturers have protected the tyres with rubber rings. However, with the EX-01 tyre, we’ve solved the problem with a reinforced sidewall that ensures close contact between the tyres, preventing damage.”
Another key element of the tyre is the radial construction, which is a first for Mitas excavator tyres and maintains a comfortable ride, as well as low fuel consumption, resulting in a longer lifespan. The shoulder is shaped to ensure a firm grip on soft surfaces, which the thicker central tread improves stability and maintains smooth running on hard services.
Musil concluded that “Mitas is committed to providing great tyres for excavators, something further confirmed by this new tyre. We believe that the radial construction of the EX-01 will prove successful in this segment and convince users of the advantages of radial tyres in these demanding conditions.”
The EX-01 is currently available around the world in the 315/80R22.5 EX-01 size. Mitas also has 15 other sizes of diagonal tyres for excavators with five differing tread patterns.
