The Nokian Ground King Hybrid Tractor Range to Span Twenty Sizes

With its Hybrilug pattern that caused a stir when released in 2019, the King tractor tyre looks set to make an impact on both soft field and fast road transport. To unlock the potential versatility of as many tractors as possible, the Nokian Ground King tyre range is steadily growing – with the total of 20 sizes available from this January.

The Journey from Concept to Reality

Every tyre must make a long journey from an idea to something you can buy and use on your tractor. With a Nokian Ground King tyre, the journey started as a concept tyre with a unique-looking tread pattern. That unique tyre drew a lot of attention at trade fairs, with the promise to combine the best properties of lug and block tread patterns. Then, once the concept was perfected and production-ready, it proved to be a winning one.“ Of course, we had undertaken thousands of hours of our own testing”, says Tero Saari, Product Manager at Nokian Tyres. “But the final proof for me was when the Nokian Ground King tyre was tested by a German university and proved to be superior to a standard lug tyre pattern. What’s more, the word from the field, the experience of the actual users, has been very, very positive.”

Expanding the Size Range

Once the tractor tyre becomes available for release on the market, it should be made available to the types of medium and high-power tractors that can benefit from its power transfer capability and mobility on a soft soil, combined with a stable and comfortable road performance. During the last quarter of 2020 and in the beginning of 2021, the Nokian Ground King tyre family will expand to cover 20 sizes – enough to make the versatility of options available for most common medium and high-power tractors.
