Michelin Tyres and Spedition Roos Celebrate 20 Year Partnership
Starting the partnership in 2000, the Roos fleet, based near Durmersheim, only had seven trucks, however with steady growth the firm now comprises of 260 tractor units, several hundred tank semitrailers, as well as tank and chassis containers, with Michelin tyres servicing all vehicles. While the semitrailer tractors are equipped with the dimension 315/70 R22.5 tyres, on the trailers the tyre dimension 385/65 R22.5 are mounted instead.
“Roos was one of the first haulage companies to rely on constant monthly rates based on previously set kilometre prices. The big advantage of this is that, instead of cyclical, large investments in new tyres, the company was able to plan the costs in the long term and stay consistent in the maintenance budget,” explains Albrecht von Leonhardi, Commercial Director Michelin Services & Solutions Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Managing Director for Switzerland.
Vito Bentivegna, managing director and owner of Roos, also sees the agreed cost model as a great advantage: “For our Europe-wide transport business, the close partnership with Michelin and the comprehensive tyre service they provide are a noticeable benefit in daily work processes. It allows for transparent, calculable costs and constant rates, which naturally help enormously in budget planning.”
