Semperit’s summer and winter tyres were showcased at the recent Tire Cologne. The products pay respect to their heritage as in the summer they provide all-round performance characteristics, making them ideal for Alpine driving and safe travel on wet and dry roads, whilst in the winter they are a reliable choice for the snowy, difficult roads that driving in the Alps provide.
First up in the summer category was the Van-Life 2. The Van-Life 2 owes its extra performance in dry handling specifically to the more rigid design of its tread center. This design change not only improves the transmission of power to the road but also enables the precise translation of steering commands even with heavy loads on board.
The fact that this has not impacted on its wet driving capabilities is due to the high-grip tread pattern with a relatively high number of wiper edges for more effective water displacement.
The products are available for 14 to 16 inch rims with aspect ratios between 80 and 65 percent, and with approvals for speeds of up to 210 km/h.
Now, you must be wondering about their solutions for when those winter conditions arrive. Well, Semperit’s offering in the light commercial vehicle segment for winter is where the Semperit Van-Grip 2 comes in.
Its key features include an increased number of edges for improved grip on snow under heavy loads, wider grooves for good aquaplaning behaviour and an optimised rubber compound in the contact patch, which reduces the rolling resistance and thus makes for lower fuel consumption. The tyres are available for 14 to 16 inch rims with approvals for speeds of up to 190 km/h.
