According to the National Association of Tyre Distributors and Importers (ADINE), Asian tyre imports maintained a growing trend in Spain during the first two months of 2025, with truck tyres showing a particularly strong growth.
Tyre Imports in Spain in the First Two Months
According to ADINE, this growing trend can be linked to the decline in ocean freight rates and better demand forecasting by industry. Truck and/or bus tyre imports grew by 12.7% in January and February, with 74,240 units imported to Spain and a notable increase in tyres coming from Thailand (+34.7%) and Vietnam (+51.3%).
The agricultural segment grew slightly by 2.3%, with 31,330 units, 87% of which came from India. Construction and mining tyres saw a very strong increase of 220.3%, reaching 29,500 units, 41% of which came from India and China.
February 2025 Data
In February 2025 alone, truck and/or bus tyres imports grew by 12.1% (37,870 units), with increasing trends of imports coming from Vietnam (+35.6%), Thailand (+52.6%) and India (+2,400%). Agricultural tyre imports grew by 65.7% with 17,850 units, 87% of which came from India. Construction and mining tyres registered a 76.5% increase with 7,870 units, and India was the main source, accounting for 80% of the imports.
Óscar Bas, Executive Secretary at ADINE, commented: “February data reflects a significant recovery in imports, which anticipates greater stability in supply heading into the spring season. This growing trend is largely due to the normalisation of maritime freight rates and inventory adjustments by distributors.”
However, the context remains uncertain: geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, inflation, raw material prices and consumer sentiment could influence market performance in the upcoming months. Furthermore, European regulations, such as the recent extension of anti-dumping measures on Chinese truck tyres until 2030 or the EUDR (starting December 30, 2025), pose additional challenges for companies in the sector, which will have to adapt their supply chains to ensure the traceability and sustainability required by Brussels.
