The Spanish agricultural machinery market showed a mixed but overall stable performance across February and March 2026, with slight year-to-date declines despite some categories posting growth.

February and March

According to data published by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, total machinery registrations reached 2,611 units in February, representing a slight year-on-year decline of 2.6%. However, the market stabilised in March, with registrations totalling 3,063 units, almost unchanged compared to the same month last year (-0.16%). On a year-to-date basis, the market remained slightly negative in March, with 7,651 units registered in the first quarter, down 1.7% compared to 2025.

Tractors continued to be the strongest-performing segment across both months. In February, registrations grew by 11.6% to 923 units, while March saw a further increase of 12.3%, reaching 1,228 units. Year-to-date, tractor registrations reached 2,810 units in March, up by 6.8%, confirming the segment as a key driver of the agricultural machinery market in Spain.

Self-propelled machinery declined by 11.6% in February (107 units), but went back to growth in March, rising by 5.5% to 135 units. Year-to-date, the segment remained broadly flat at 350 units in March. (+0.9%).

Trailed or mounted machinery continued to weigh on the overall market. Registrations declined by 12.8% in February (1,337 units) and declined again in March by 9.6% (1,472 units). This resulted in a year-to-date drop of 10.4%, with 3,806 units registered.

Trailer registrations increased by 22.6% in February (244 units) and by 5.1% in March (228 units), bringing the year-to-date total to 685 units, up 22.3%.

While the overall Spanish agricultural machinery market remains slightly below last year’s levels, the continued growth in tractor registrations and the recovery seen in March suggest a degree of resilience in the sector. However, ongoing declines in trailed and mounted machinery indicate that investment patterns remain uneven across different equipment categories.
