The UK Tractor Market

According to the latest AEA report, 2025 was one of the slowest years when it comes to agricultural registrations in the UK, with both December and year-to-date data showing notable declines compared to 2024.

In December 2025, there was a total of 541 tractor registrations, representing an almost 32% decline and showing caution among farmers and machinery buyers at the end of the year, with demand notably below historical seasonal averages, mainly due to broader economic pressures and contraints weighed on investment decisions.

In total, there were 8,791 tractors registered in the UK in 2025, which is over 14% less than in 2024, which is the lowest annual number since the AEA started monitoring the tractor market in the UK in the 1960s, reflecting a reduced confidence in the farming sector, mainly due to the commodity prices, rising input costs, weather-related uncertainties and ongoing policy uncertainty affecting long-term investment decisions.
