Sailun Breaks Ground on New Tyre Plant in Egypt

Sailun Group has broken ground on a new USD 291 million tyre plant in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone, marking a major step in its global expansion while boosting local industry, job creation, and Sino-Egyptian cooperation.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks Strategic Milestone

On 10th September (Egypt local time), Sailun held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new plant in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, marking a significant step forward in the Group’s global footprint.

The ceremony was attended by key representatives from both China and Egypt, including Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE); Tareq Hamed Mohamed El-Shazly, Governor of Suez; Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI); Cao Hui, Executive Director of Egypt TEDA Special Zone Development Company; and Xie Xiaohong, President of Sailun Group.

Strengthening Global Supply Chain and Local Industry

During the event, Xiaohong delivered a speech announcing the official launch of this major investment project. He emphasised that the Egypt plant will significantly enhance Sailun’s global supply chain efficiency and market responsiveness, better meeting the demands of customers in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.

Additionally, the project will not only expand local tyre production capacity in Egypt but also promote synergistic development across the industrial chain, create numerous job opportunities, cultivate technical talent, and drive the integration of advanced manufacturing concepts with Egypt’s local industries.

Major Investment Driving Jobs and Economic Growth

Hui noted that the project, with a total investment of $291 million, will establish a plant with an annual capacity of 3.6 million tyres. Upon reaching full production, Sailun expects the plant to generate approximately USD 190 million in annual sales revenue, create nearly 1,000 jobs, and stimulate over USD 500 million in supporting upstream and downstream industries.

With the successful completion of the groundbreaking ceremony, the Sailun Egypt project has now officially entered the construction phase.

Moving forward, Sailun Group will continue to uphold the philosophy of win-win cooperation, collaborating with global partners to establish the Egypt plant as a new benchmark for Sino-Egyptian cooperation and mutual success, while contributing to the high-quality development of the global tyre industry with Sailun’s expertise.
