Light and Heavy Truck Registrations Declining in Sweden

According to the latest report published by Mobility Sweden, light and heavy truck registrations had a significant decline in July 2025.

Light truck registrations in Sweden have been declining for the 15th month in a row, with 1,442 registrations in July 2025, representing a 20% decline compared to the same period last year. Year-to-date data shows a total of  18,148 registrations, which is a 23% decline compared to 2024. The most purchased light trucks in July include Volkswagen, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Renault and Toyota.

Heavy truck registrations, according to Mobility Sweden, declined by 1% in July 2025, with 243 registrations. Year-to-date data shows a 7.4% decline, with a total of 2,811 registrations. Scania, Volvo, DAF, MAN and Mercedes-Benz were among the most purchased heavy trucks in July 2025 in Sweden.

The bus market continues with a strong development in July 2025 as well, with 245 new registrations, representing a 302% growth. Year-to-date data shows a 236% growth, with 1,167 new registrations. MAN, Mercedes-Benz, BYD, Setra and Iveco were among the most purchased buses in July 2025 in Sweden.

“The new tariffs are not expected to have any short-term effect on the Swedish vehicle market, as import tariffs for the EU are still unchanged. The higher tariffs against the US could lead to lower profitability for the industry and, in the long term, affect the supply and price picture on the Swedish market,” said Mattias Bergman, CEO of Mobility Sweden.
