Viridor Recycle with Bandvulc
Viridor, part of the FTSE 250 Pennon Group and one of the UK’s leading recycling, renewable energy and waste management companies, has entered into a tyre supply and management agreement with Bandvulc Tyre Contracts (BTC), the management division of the Bandvulc Group.
According to Richard Jenkins, Regional Director for Viridor South West, the agreement realises considerable commercial advantages for Viridor compared to the company’s previous supplier. “BTC’s offer provided a genuine approach and innovative solutions for the demands of our customer led operation,” he said. “We have been operating with Bandvulc for the first quarter and have
seen an energy and a willingness to develop ideas to help reduce costs and increase productivity for our fleet.”
“From the commencement of our new agreement we have already saved over 122,000 kg of
CO2 by fitting retread tyres instead of new and over 350 of our casings (used tyres removed from the fleet) have been recycled into “new” retread tyres which also supports our environmental objectives and promotes us further as a recycler,” he added.
Each year Viridor transforms over two million tonnes of materials into high quality recyclate and even more into over 760 gigawatt hours of renewable energy. With both Viridor and Bandvulc being primarily focused on recycling, the agreement brings further benefits to the environment through the use of Bandvulc tyres on the Viridor fleet.

Calor Gas Choose Goodyear Dunlop
Calor Gas Ltd, the UK’s leading supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has signed a two year deal with Goodyear Dunlop following a successful trial period. The trial, which lasted two years, looked specifically at the total life cost of tyres focusing in on areas such as product performance, durability and service offering.
David Brown, Fleet Asset Manager from Calor
Gas Ltd said: “For
us the two year trial
was the perfect test. We looked at many different areas and the results showed that Goodyear offered the best performance without compromising other
criteria.”
The company will now fit its tractor units, trailers and rigids with Goodyear’s regional haul tyres as well as utilising the company’s NextTread retread range. Goodyear’s latest generation regional haul tyre KMAX will also be introduced to the fleet following its launch in Milan in September.
