BUS AND COACH
Continental Intros New Bus and Coach Tyre Range
Goodyear Introduces Marathon Coach and Ultra Grip Coach Tyres as Retreads
Goodyear is launching its innovative new coach tyres as retreads in the TreadMax premium retread range. The TreadMax Marathon Coach all position tyre and TreadMax UltraGrip Coach winter drive tyre are now both available in size 295/80R22.5 as mould cure retreads.
The TreadMax products, which have the same tread pattern,
tyres of the same size.
The Marathon Coach is an all position tyre for year-round use. Its unique asymmetric design offers excellent even wear and mileage with a high comfort level. Uneven tyre wear has been a serious problem for tyres on modern coaches, resulting in reduced tyre life. The asymmetric design, which Goodyear has developed specifically for the Marathon Coach tyre, addresses this problem.
The Ultra Grip Coach is a specific winter drive tyre with enhanced snow traction. This tyre is of particular benefit for coaches that operate in areas such as the Nordic Countries and in Alpine regions. The tread design and width give it excellent grip and traction in winter conditions and also low noise levels, which means enhanced passenger comfort. These new tyres are part of the Goodyear comprehensive range of premium mould cure retread products. TreadMax retreads
are all manufactured by Goodyear in its own facilities using the mould cure process. TreadMax Marathon Coach and Ultra Grip Coach mould cure retreads are available in size 295/80R22.5 and are regroovable for maximum life and economy.
compound and features as new tyres, have been developed following the "Multiple Life Concept" approach. This allows coach operators to make full use of their tyre assets, for reduced cost per km, without compromising on tyre performance. The tyres feature a combination of technologies, called TravelMax, which include Silefex tread compound and an asymmetric design, to extend mileage in particular.
TreadMax retreads are built using only Goodyear Max Technology casings. This ensures that the high level of performance related to the construction of the tyre is maintained during its retread life. It also means that coach operators benefit from the new designs by upgrading to the new tyre designs by retreading other Goodyear Max Technology tyres such as Goodyear Marathon or Regional
Continental’s range of tyres for bus and coach use was systematically revamped earlier this year as part of a programme to develop a completely new third generation product line for commercial vehicles that is tuned to
specific
customer applications whilst also being targeted towards lowering overall operating costs.
Of crucial importance, as far as Continental is concerned, is the fact that the new product family for commercial passenger transport is the first product line developed specifically for that application. Not only that – the range covers all requirements from regular city services through regional and charter traffic to the long-distance coach sector which is seeing growth in express services.
Comfort, economy and safety are the main requirements for modern bus tyres in
all
applications. In the new third generation, Continental has perfectly covered the varied work environment
of everyday bus and coach usage with three new tyre ranges that have been designed for specific uses: Conti Coach, Conti CityPlus and Conti Urban.
The design of the new Conti Coach HA3 high-performance tyres has been optimised for constant high speeds and a wide range of operating temperatures — from Scandinavian winters to the scorching sun of southern Europe. Expert handling with reliable long-distance suitability and the lowest possible rolling resistance were at the forefront of Continental’s requirements when developing the new tyre concept. The new long distance tyre is lighter thanks to an improved tread design which helps reduce both fuel consumption and the materials used in the tyres. Furthermore the new Conti Coach HA3 long-distance coach tyre is best in class in terms of suspension and ride comfort when fitted to all axles. While its special sipe tread design significantly reduces noise.
This new regional coach tyre has been designed to take on a variety of tasks during its
daily
service. As an all-rounder, it combines very good economy due to extended mileage, retreading and regrooving capabilities and optimised rolling resistance with a high level of driving and operating safety in daily usage. The new Conti Urban HA3 city bus tyre is claimed to be particularly durable. Thanks to its extremely robust casing design, the Conti Urban withstands constant acceleration, braking and curb contact in bus bays. It combines ride comfort and operating safety with a 20 percent longer life that can be further extended by retreading and regrooving.
As an exclusive addition to the range, Continental is also offering a range of coach tyres for winter usage with the Conti Coach HSW 2 SCANDINAVIA.
