UK light commercial vehicle (LCV) registrations decline by -16.1% during the traditional ‘quiet’ month for registrations. 19,407 vans registered as businesses await plate change month and clarity over economic outlook. YTD sales down -36.4%, equivalent to almost 90,000 units. 

New bus and coach registrations fall -77.1% in Q2, with 328 vehicles joining UK roads. Single-deck demand plummets -93.3% to just 51 units, down from 757 last year. 1,731 vehicles registered in first six months, down -34.6% year on year. 

UK heavy goods vehicle market shrinks by -73.4% in second quarter. Markets for both rigid and artic trucks in decline, with a total 4,151 vehicles joining UK roads. Year-to-date demand halves, down -51.4% with just 13,344 vehicles registered in the first six months. 

Michelin has extended its X Multi truck tyre range, popular for regional haulage, with the addition of 315/80 R22.5 X Multi Z (multi-position) and X Multi D (drive) fitments. It is also introducing two new 385/65 R22.5 high load carrying capacity tyresthe X Multi HLZ (multi-position) and X Multi HLT (trailer), primarily for logging trucks and crane-mounted tractor units. 

July production up 3.6%, with 5,234 commercial vehicles manufactured, giving manufacturers a glimmer of hope. The uptick is largely due to orders from Europe, with 53.4% of all units produced in July destined for EU markets.

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it will build a new plant in India’s Special Projects Zone, Atchutapuram Industrial Park, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh for the purpose of expanding production capacity of Alliance Tire Group (ATG), a Yokohama Rubber Group company engaged in the manufacturing and sale of off-highway tyres

The third episode of TOTY has decided on the theme Agriculture 4D, which is designed for those studying and designing tractors of the future. With some instead terming the event ‘Industry 4.0 in the field’ based on the fieldwork mixed with the technology innovation. The result is a new form of agriculture, working to improve both the yield and sustainability of harvests, including in the produce and transformation quality, as well as the working conditions.
