The Hankook Technodome, the tyre maker’s state-of-the-art research and development centre, has been honoured as one of the most exemplary laboratories in the field of safety management. The Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Korea only awards this title to laboratories that have been assessed by renowned experts under strict scientific criteria. Hankook is the first tyre maker receiving this certificate in Korea. 

 

Giti Tire is celebrating a short but successful 2020 truck racing calendar with events in Germany, Britain and Poland delivering impressive results.  

UK HGV market dips by 138 units to 8,419 in Q3 after turbulent first half of the year. Demand for rigids up by 12.6% mirroring demand for essential delivery services and construction as lockdown measures eased over the summer. Market currently down -39.6% year to date, representing a drop of more than 14,000 units. 

Speedline Truck complements its range of forged light alloy wheels, presenting the SLT 3698 – the first forged light alloy wheel for trucks in 22,5x9,75” to better meet the more “extreme” needs of megatrailers. 

New bus and coach market still grappling with effects of the pandemic, down -22.1% as just over 1,000 vehicles join UK roads in third quarter. Drop in registrations driven by double-digit decline in single-deck and minibus demand. Year-to-date performance down -30.4%, with 2,775 passenger vehicles registered in the first nine months of the year. 

Highest October on record for UK LCV market, as registrations increase by 13.3%, with 28,753 units registered. Growth in demand driven by heavier end of the van market, as operators expand fleets ahead of Christmas season. Year to date market yet to make up 75,000-unit shortfall, with performance in first 10 months down -24.1%, as second lockdown for England raises further challenges. 

The Nokian E-Truck range of truck tyres strike a balance between economical, care-free kilometers and effective all-weather properties. The latest addition to the range is sizes for medium-sized trucks. The new 19.5 size complements the tyre range, enabling medium-duty trucks in the 12–16-ton range for every season. 

Nokian Tyres has been included in the Dow Jones’ DJSI World sustainability index for the fourth consecutive year. The company was also selected for the more strictly defined DJSI Europe index.   

Trading Resistance, located in Merida, joins the BestDrive network. With this new member, the network's presence in Extremadura is strengthened. 

Farrall’s Group is moving its entire fleet of 65 trucks and 100 trailers onto a Michelin tyre policy. The decision follows a trial organised by local Michelin advocate dealer Quinton Tyres, which demonstrated the sustainability advantages of the Michelin product.
