With 31,779 light commercial vehicles (under 5.1 tonnes) registrations for November, the market has seen another decline, this time of 12%, compared to November 2020, in figures from Comité des Constructeurs Français d'Automobiles, the Automotive manufacturing association in France. The market may be continuing to register declines, however with one month to go before the end of the year, the 393,932 registrations so far this year is a 9.69% increase on this time last year, leaving little room for doubt 2021 will improve on 2020.

The best figures since June of this year, the commercial vehicle market is seeing a domestic bounce as the year-to-date figures for 2021 shows a healthy 15% on 2020 levels. With a weak October 2020, the figures show signs of a more stable market, although production is down 18% on the pre-pandemic average, showing that the market is still not at the normal level, in figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

With external problems continuing to wreak havoc on the industry, the 7,715 registered vehicles for the third quarter is only a mild 8.4%. This subdued quarter is also 9.8% down on the weak third quarter of 2019. Cumulatively, the registrations for the year-to-date is more noticeable, with only 27,272 trucks registered, which is 24.3% down on the pre-pandemic 2019 level, in figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

With just 853 vehicles registered in the third quarter of 2021, this is a decline of 19.8% and a drop on 500 units (37%) on 2019 levels. Double-deckers, in particular, have fallen greatly as low passenger numbers continue to reduce the demand within the industry, in figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturer and Traders (SMMT).
