Hankook is again featured in the world-renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index World. The DJSI World recognises Hankook’s sustainability management commitment, especially in the areas of Social Contribution and Supply Chain Management. Hankook has been included in the DJSI World since 2016, and is the only Asian company in the automotive supply industry to have been recognised in 2020. 

Nokian Tyres has been included in the Dow Jones’ DJSI World sustainability index for the fourth consecutive year. The company was also selected for the more strictly defined DJSI Europe index.   

Northern Ireland tyre management specialists Kerr’s Tyre’s & Auto has acquired Belfast based Roundabout Tyre & Battery Service for an undisclosed sum. 

For the third quarter of 2020 Hankook Tire reports an increase of global sales and operating profit by 2.8% and 24.6% respectively year-on-year, and by 38.3% and 220.5% compared to the previous quarter. This recovery is mainly attributed to increased sales of replacement tyres in major regions such as Europe, North America, and China. It was also driven by increased sales of OE tyres as well as high-inch tyres of 18 inches or above in China. The company’s Laufenn brand product portfolio is also a key contributor to driving demand from customers seeking both quality and competitive price.

Pneuhage, the Karlsruhe, Germany based tyre dealer and retreader, has announced that it has manufactured its millionth retread since the company’s plant first opened in 1988.

UK new van market grows by 26.4%, following a weaker than usual month last year due to emissions regulation changes. Registrations of most segments show double-digit growth against last year’s low volumes. Market still below ‘normal’ levels, down -6.6% on previous five-year September average. Performance year-to-date remains down -27.4%, a shortfall of almost 80,000 units.

UK’s overall CV output grows by 3.3% in September, as van production gets fleet order boost. Bus and coach manufacturing remains in critical condition, with output plunging -43.2%, to just 63 units.Year-to-date CV output down -16.8% after months of restricted production and falling business confidence. Industry calls for tariff-free deal with key trading partner as negotiating time is running out.
